Help, my car set up for Drags The car should go faster, my 60 foot times are 1.79-1.81 but I am only getting 12.56 and 12.59 in the ¼ mile at 104 to 106 so what’s up, the engine is a Chevy 406 roller with a( cam 264-266 @50. With a 630 lift, Holley 850, Th400 with 3500 stall and 3.73 gears, tires are ET Street) the car do's not like the heat thats for sure. gets slower when its hot. the one thing that i did was lower the tire pressure from 15 to 13 PSI. The heads are Dart 200's 2.02/1.60 with no mods, the cars weight is 3450 with me in it
things to look at
1. lower gears like (4.10)
2. better heads or head work
3. better shocks front an back ( coil over)
4. or i just need to work on my driving..

is it your '72?
if so im assuming it is carbed. then you should adjust the carb, start rich, not pig rich, and come lean. also you can adjust timming, usually advance.
now that said you need to have a test and tune or something like that at a local 1/4 or 1/8 miles strip. or even better dyno.
work with what ya got first then start modifing.
what size tires? if they are pretty big than yeah 4.10s are the way to go. Is it the 8.5" 10 bolt?
oh and Complicated 1.7s arnt that bad at all, especially if that is stock suspension.
