Default Really need a radar detector

Comming down kirkwood I go over a bridge over some park and the limit drops to 30, so I se a cop in the median of course like always, well I gently decrease my speed to like 34 from 40, no bueneo he pops the U and follows me all the way down to westheimer. I chill 30 all the way down and he busts another U and goes the other way. Stuff like this happens all the damn time, what kinda radars do y'all use and will they let you know in a situation like I stated in this post.

I use a valentine one and it works like a charm. Its probably saved me from 10 or so tickets in the last year. As long as the cop is running radar the valentine should pick it up. I have had cops do that to me as well who werent running radar, its pretty shady but there isnt much you can do about it.

Valentine One, without a doubt. It's well worth the $399 price tag. You can check out Ebay as well, but the resale value on the V1's is very good, so there are really no bargains to be had going that route.

Yeah its happened to me in the TA, I know that they are running the plates when they do it. Funny thing was is that I was in my daily driver, regular blue blazer, but I speed more in that then I ever did in the TA.

I got a Cobra from best buy for about $120 (the one that talks). Its not as good as the V1 may be but it works just as good for city driving I think. Mine works great and it picks up cops (Ka usually) from way down the highway. A couple of friends have said how good it works too when they ride w/ me. It has also saved me numerous times as other have posted.
I noticed that cops keep their radar on when they drive. Im not sure if they can accurately see if you are speeding if you drive by but I think its mostly to scare radar users to slow down (when it goes off often). This is a good thing because it also alerts radar users that a cop is driving around nearby, sort of like a "cop detector"

I swear by the Valentine 1. I have converted many by allowing them to do a head to head test with their own detector. The V1 will often times give so much warning ahead of time you are looking for the popo for longer than you are used to. Around corners, over bridges/hills...you name it it gets it and tells you from what direction it is coming from. I am so used to the arrows I am dependent upon them and do not like driving without my V1. Go buy it now!!! Read the manual and within a short period of time you will learn how to interpret the alerts it gives you.

Rocky Mountain Radar is a joke, it doesn't scramble any sort of radar signals like it says it does, there's a test on it somewhere online about how it doesn't work. My Passport 8500 x50 is awesome, wouldn't drive without it.

It has been my experience that it's better to just take the chance without one. The radar detector was design orignally to detect a constant signal being sent from the radar unit. With the changes in technology now the popo can place the unit on hold until he sees you and by the time you hear anything its to late. Then when he walks up to the car and sees it your hear something like i guess u have that thing because you speed all the time, oh yeah sign hear......
