Question opinions

I found a 1969 Stingray with a 435 hp 427 and it is in showcar condition. It is one of my favorite Vettes, but I would have to give up my Z06 to get it.
They are going for $40 - 50k these days in that condition with a big block. It is fully restored. Aside from giving up the new car technolgy, I could get my hands on one now and it will only appreciate, whereas my new car is steadily depreciating. Just curious what ya'll think. What would you do if you were in my situation?

Sounds very tempting yet I dont think you will be as happy with the old vette as you are with this one.

I think more people would appreciate the '69, but it is ultimately your decision, and what you feel you'd be most happy with.

I would take that '69 over a ZO6 any day.

I know, but I'm just curious what the consensus would be. I think now is the time to get a fully restored numbers matching big block car that will bring in top dollar. It is better than stock because I can guarantee it will only go up in value if kept in good condition. If I wait too long, the car will be going for $80k or something out of my reach. Whereas I can replace my Z06 in the future for less than it's worth now...LOL! So financialy it seems like the more logical thing to do. But it would be very hard to see my current Z06 go with all of the mods I have done and it only has 5k miles on it.

Well U can look at it this way, the 69 is gaining value now, every year the price is gonna go up. The Z06 you have now is just loosing value for now, its gonna be a number of years before it starts to gain value and be a collectors item. So really what I am saying is Get While the Gettins Good.

But look at it from a investment point of view also, in a year what will you loose on your car you have now, and what will you gain on the older vette ?? I would say in the gain would be about say 25-30K approximation. I would get the old one and wait a bit and get another used Z06 later, just my opinion. My next car will be a V, I think. Pimpin in a fast caddy, with cutouts, and heads cam, and ride in style.

What?!

Dean, you already had a '69 427. Why get another one, again?

If I were you I'd move on, get a C6 ZO6 for $65k and be done with it. Thats just my $.02 man.

Peace,
Craig.

I think you both agree with what I said, The old car will only go up in value, and the new car is going down in value. I will be able to replace the new car for less later. Did I mention it was Monaco orange with black interior? It has the 435 hp 427 with the 3 dueces, my favorite 427 motor other than the L88. Fully restored, matching serial numbers car, I really want it...LOL!

hahaha.... I know you like it and all, but I see it as a step back. More so if you have to get rid of your ZO6. The only thing I'd get rid of that car is for a C6 ZO6.

Image driving that '69 to work in the summer, now imagine driving the C6 ZO6 to work! You know what I mean. The creature comfort plus the power of the LS7. To me it would not be a question for a C6 vs the '69, even your ZO6 over that '69.

Peace,
Craig.

Craig,
I know I had one, but it wasn't matching numbers and it was the L36 motor (390 hp 427 ci). This is the 435 hp 427 with 3 dueces and it is matching numbers and fully restored to show car condition. Also has the 4 speed. It is an investment. I can get another new car later, they are easy to get your hands on. Old cars with matching numbers are getting hard to find in that condition. The big block Vettes are highly sought after due to the fact that they only made them a few years. 65 had a 396, 66 thru 69 had a 427, 70 thru 74 had a 454. That is only 10 years of big blocks in 52 years of production. The new C6 Z06 will be the first big block Vette in 31 years!

Dean,

In all honesty I love classic Vettes and would be even contempt with a base bumper C3 with a small block. Here is the way I see it, classic cars unless your going to really build the hell out of them make good 2nd Hot rods. Like its a cool car to have, but I would much rather have some thing newer for my main toy. The thing is, I cant find much enjoyment on a car you'll be not wanting to put milles on or even mod because it will hurt value. Now say you wanted to pick up a Sting Ray and mod the hell out of it, then I could understand, but some thing like what your talking about getting isnt all that much fun unlessyou collect them or some thing. Then I guess its cool

OK, a 427 cu in small block it is...LOL! I over looked that didn't I. So in lieu of that, I doubt they will EVER make a big block Vette again!
