Do the 94-95 Z-28's make good power? Also does it take alot of mods to get them running real strong??

Yor engine is an LT1 they can make some good power if you add some mods to it you might think about Headers, cam, Ported T/B, ASP pulley, AFR Heads just to name a few You can add various modifications to make your LT1 strong. But it also requires Time, Money and Product research. They may not be as strong as LS1's but with the right Mods they can be strong

The make ok power for what they are, stock well running Lt1 car can run high 13s, low 14s, full bolt on they can easily hit deep 12.5s at 108-112. Cammed six speed stock headed + full bolt on cars can trap around 113-115. Heads cam six speeds can pull 390-415rwhp with the right set up. Also they can take some dope, full bolt on + 150 shot, a great many have ran in to the mid 11s, couple folks have even ran 10s with bolt on dope LT1s. Same back suspension as a LS1 car, same weak 10 bolt. They can make good power, stick with a 95 because it has a vented opti, so better timing chain options on that, you can always convert. Any case any thing else you want to know, I can seriously break it down from 1993 to 1997 and tell you exact;y what they changed. A lot of guys are making bad *** power on LT1 castings, over 400+rwhp, one guy with an LE3 set up pulled 415 through a 12 bolt. Futral made 420rwhp and was trapping 122, LT1s have potential to be mean. A good many street six speed 355s are running mid 130s on gas and LT1 heads. Sean Salazar is the perfect example of what can be done if you know what your doing

If you have the option try to get a 6speed 95, I think it is one of the better years for modding b/c they still have obdI, but can be tuned with a cable and laptop, vented opti, and some other things. And yes, they are strong engines, but with enough money, just about anything can be made to run fast.

There not horrible to work on (it does take patience), if it was easy everyone would do it. As you do stuff, youll learn and it will become less of a hassle the next time.

they can make good power with some mods. It has a good strong engine that can take lots of abuse. They are alittle tricky to work on but what modern car isn't now days.

Your questions are pretty vague. IMHO LT1's are still a great bang for the buck, especially considering how cheap you can find them.

Yes, a similarly modded LS1 will tend to out-dyno and out-run an LT1, but there is quite a price break (in general). When you are talking about a fully built LT1 car... the sky is the limit. How fast do you want to go and how much do you want to spend?

i'd say if it was a daily driver with occasional strip duty, to get a newer car....but for a drag car, you'd do fine with an older one, they can still be modded and be pretty insane, without having to spend as much initially on the car.

then there's the looks of the car that only you can justify which is best for you. i personally like the looks of the LS1 body style better, but that's just my own opinion...plenty people like the LT1 body style better
