610 West loop between I-10 and 59. Has traffic as bad as anywhere. I go surface streets to avoid it...That whole area (I-10, 59, 610, etc... all in that area sucks).

Austin's issue is it developed faster than its freeways did. When I used to go there on business you had to drive surface streets to get anywhere if you wanted to go. As I remember going North to South wasn't a gigantic issue but going East to West was impossible. Just a case of explosive growth coupled with poor urban planning.

Austin's traffic jams are not commensurate with the population being relatively small. San Antonio is a city that was well planned out though as far as traffic.

The worst part is that the city *did* plan it that way. City leaders have always believed (and still believe) that they could control/limit city growth by keeping a stranglehold on the traffic flow. F'in politicians...grrr... Doesn't help that most Austin drivers are dumbasses too...

**** man, welcome to a day in the life of this **** town called College Station!

although, at least we do get a slight reprieve a few times a year when the dumbasses....errr...Aggies leave town for holidays & such.... (not saying ALL aggies are dumbasses, but an overwhelming percentage are....)

but it gets REALLY bad here when the Aggies' parents come into town & don't have a ****** clue about anything.....it's times like that i wish i had a monster truck to just run over everyone.....

The D.C area seems worse on the holidays than any other place that Ive been. Except for Manilla.

I'm looking into going to school at UT when I get finished at Kingwood, anything going on over there...I hear that it's like the live music capitol of the world and lots of stuff goes on, but I dont know...never been there.

oh yeah, 6th street is the place to be.....

they often times block off several blocks of streets and have live bands all over the place, and you can walk around in the street drinking (as long as it's not in a glass container) and just have a great time
