Horsepower Engineering is the best
A few weeks ago I was putting on some kooks longtubes but couldn't get the Y-pipe to fit on. I called a few different shops to get quotes and not only were they the cheapest, they got me in the very next day (the next cheapest was $15 more with a 1 week wait). I got in on a SATURDAY, which is the only day I can come in due to my work schedual.
On the drive there my battery gauge started falling and when I got to the light at Breen and Rossalyn my car died. I was literally 15 seconds from the shop. I called them up to see if they could help me out - just sit and steer while I pushed it. They sent a truck and towed me to the shop. Once they recharged my battery and got it on the lift they installed the Y-pipe. Then they tested my alternator and even took it off and brought it to O'Reilly to have them test it. It tested fine for some reason there so they put it back on and it worked now. Appearantly there was grease or something on the contacts (Ooops). They also rechecked my tune I had gotten there a good 7 or 8 months back to make sure the AIR and EGR were turned off (I got my tune for cheaper than I could have got it elsewhere by a good $100-$150 margin).
Anyways, once everything was back together, they only charged me for the Y-pipe install at the quoted price. I was blown away.
Unfortunately those Kooks off-road Y-pipes don't fit too well and it ended up rubbing the tunnel underneath pretty badly causing severe vibrations in the console. I called them Friday morning to see when I could come in to get it adjusted because the rattling was unbearable and they said I could come in the very next day (Saturday).
I went up there with my girlfriend and we hadn't eaten breakfast that morning and were really hungry (It is almost an hour drive to HPE from where I'm at, but worth it). We asked if there was any places you can get food nearby that we can walk to. Rick actually gave me the keys to his Dodge truck (Cummins Turbodiesel) even when I was reluctant. This was above and beyond what I had expected from them. I had planned to walk. Anyway, we went off to eat and the car was pretty much ready when we came back.
I had a bad power steering leak (about a bottle every 6 days) which I had asked them to take a look at (to determine the source). I had checked it before and thought it was the seal in the rack which would mean replacing the whole rack (a $600 part from GM). They found it to be the rack aswell but quoted me $400 for the part and $200 labor. Cheaper than if I had just bought the part and did it myself which I tend to do. Plus, it'd be done in a day. If I had the money I would have done it right there and then, but I'll have to wait a few weeks to do it. I really need the leak fixed heh. I also asked him to check the codes I was getting aswell. When all was finished, they charged me nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada. Nothing for taking off the Y-pipe, checking the rack, checking the codes, borring the truck. Nothing. the customer sevice from this shop just blows me away.
Although now that I think about it, the more people I recommend to HPE, the harder it will be to get in so damn fast. Hah. Anyways A+ for HPE.
