newcomer needs emissions info

newcomer needs emissions info hey all, I'm going to be moving from Boston, MA to Fort Worth soon, so i need to find out some info about TX emissions testing.
sometime this summer, before the move, i'm going to be doing headers on the car, and i'm trying to decide if i'm going to go with Cats or not.
since i've learned that the computer can be 'programmed' to not fail emissions, i'm all set with the ODB test if i go without cats. as far as the visual test goes, i'd be running fake cats on the Y-pipe.
now in my research of TX emissions laws, it appears as though the Fort Worth area just does ODB tests on 96 and newer cars, just as MA does, so i thought that i had my mind all made up... but then i read some **** about some crazy remote testing vans?!??!?! I could see the People's Republic of MA doing something like that, but not texas...
i did a quick search on the forum about it, and it appears as though it actually is done and it's done heavily in the houston area, but what about the DFW area? also, if you get a summons to go get tested, do they just do the standard ODB test again, or do they give you the sniffer?

most shops dont actually do the visual test, but in case they do youre covered with the dummy cats.... I have read that many people have passed by the testing vans with no problems... As long as your not going WOT, i dont think you will have a problem

As long as your car passes the OBD2 scan your Ok, alot of people know people who know people that can get you done without the visual inspect. And the van thing here in the DFW area is that there is not alot of them and when I see one and I have to pass it I just shut my car off and coast by
