Just got the LAMEST ticket
Just got the LAMEST ticket So, i am coming back from LME- I am on the beltway, exiting onto highway 59
there was a slow car in front of me, so i gave it some gas and passed them in the right lane. I never exceeded 80. I look in my rearview, and this cop is flying up behind me. She pulls me over and asks for the usual. I had not put my updated insurance card in the car, so i blame myself for that (but it will get dismissed). She asks why i was doing over 100mph in front of a cop. I said, i don't think i was and i'd like to see your radar. She says no, "she knew how fast i was going."
She goes back to her car for about 15 minutes. Another car shows up and the guy comes up and talks to her. She comes up and gives me a ticket for 100+ in a 65, no insurance, and not wearing a seatbelt. Get this, i WAS wearing my seatbelt, like i ALWAYS do. As we were leaving, i got out of my car and asked her about it. She said "i didn't see it and get BACK in your car".
My court date is set for my 2nd day back in college. I will be 3 1/2 hours away... There is no way i can attend it. The officer who pulled me over was Sheriff Drury, unit 4212.
Any advice/help is appreciated.

Um I'm not positive but I think a cop can shadow you and use that as their radar... If they are behind you and need to do 80 to keep up and stay within the same distance then they can say you were doing 80. But from what it sounds like in your situation I doubt thats what the cop did.
The last time HPD pulled that crap on me I told the dumb SOB "go rewind your video and watch me take off my seatbelt when you asked for my ID." He just continued on in a drunken stupor (no ****) but three days later I recieved a dismissal in the mail along with the speeding (no RADAR) and the failure the yield the right of way to freeway exiting traffic (he almost plowed me stoping at the light).
The best part was when he asked me "Have you been drinking tonight?" I said "No, but I can see you have." Fuggin drunk cops, a major WTF.

Radar doesn't work from behind you. She'd have to pace you to know exactly how fast you were going. They have to put exactly how fast you were going anyway, not just an estimate unless it's a warning, then they just put 'speeding'.

Cops can pace you. Thats why they have calibrated spedos. They can alos use the radar to check by shootingh afixed object as they pace. But, they most post and exact speed.

Thats what I thought. I'm glad I wasn't wrong
