Default Any TV experts in here?

If so, please tell me what the hell is wrong with my picture! If I leave it on, these two black spots grow to become one. After the TV is off for a few days, they go back down, but they don't get any smaller than this. Please help. This wasn't the most expensive TV in the world, but I would expect to get more than 2 years out of a $1500 TV.

You have a plasma? Or is it a rear projector? Plasma means you have a leak in side your television, and when your screen heats up they re-appear. If its DLP/HD/LCD, you may just have a bulb(s) burning out.

I would probably suggest calling Samsung...

But what type of TV is it? What is the model number?

This is very helpful information to have to diagnose.

Yes I realize that. Thanks! I already gave them all the information. They are of no help. I called their support team, and they said I should have someone local come check it out. I want to try the bulb first, though, to save a lot of time and money. I opened it up, but it was like cutting a head open and trying to perform brain surgery without any training.

I probably won't buy another rear projection TV. I've had this normal 29" Panasonic for like 8 years and the picture is outstanding.

If its a LCD/DLP (looks like one) dont waste your money on a bulb. If your bulb is out then you wouldnt get a pic at all. At least all the newer LCD/DLP tvs have a quick change bulb, You can change it in 5 min at the most.

Give me the model # and ill check with my tech when he comes back to my store and ill ask him about it.

The model # is SP-43J6HF, but I bought it through the military in Germany, so he's gonna have one hell of a time researching it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, though.

if it does end up being non-fixable, you ought to consider building your own LCD projector. they can be made for ~$600 or less, depending on where you get the parts from. i plan on building my own projector before too very long. you can usually get over 100" widescreen with these projectors with awesome quality, and the type of bulb you use is a LOT cheaper and last a LOT longer than the commercial projectors like you buy at best buy or whatever.

about the only downside is the size of the projector (but if you're good at building stuff, you can make the box for it into a piece of furniture), and in most cases, you need a computer to run the LCD screen (although there are set-top boxes that you can buy to run it also).
