New Trans Am lover.
1. Offroad Long Tube Headers are used for the exhaust and offroad means no catalytic converters. Which can be restrictive.
2. Gears are installed in the rear end (which is located underneath the car- the big round thing in the middle) to make the car launch faster, but also can be bad because you have to go through the shifting quicker. The most common gearing (stock) is 3.23 in an automatic and 3.42 in standard. An automatic is usually upgraded to 3.73 and a standard is upgraded to 4.10. This gearing can be thought of as gearing on a ten speed bike, the ratio's make the difference.
3. The lid, throttle body, and the "ls6 something" which is an ls6 intake are all a part of the intake system. The lid flows better than stock and makes more horsepower. The throttle body if ported and polished and/ or larger diameter will increase the flow and also help the air intake. The ls6 intake was an upgrade over ls1 intakes, it has larger "runners" and increases air intake, therefore making more horsepower also.
Hope that helps a little. My wife takes interest in what I do, and thats cool as hell.
