Dallas, Texas SS owners in here
Well like the heading says i live in Dallas Texas and want to install headers. but i have some questions.
1. If i dont run cats and use o2 sims, will my car pass inspection?
2. what headers work best for yall?
3. when you installed the headers did you have any codes thrown off? if so how did you fix it.

Hey I’m in G.P, I installed headers last December, with some help from family. It was not too bad, other than my brother breaking the terminal on my battery.
1. I bought the race headers, which do not have the smog hookups, so I removed the Air and EGR stuff, so I also removed the CATS, I did not by the Sims, and I just had the codes removed. I was able to pass inspection, since they only do the OBII testing, and most places don’t do a visual.
2. I purchased the PaceSetter LTs, the price was good and the install was easy.
3. I had codes but not sure which ones, I had them all deleted when I had it tuned

1. as long as your car isn't throwing codes it will pass. 96 and up cars dont get put on the sniffer, they just plug their computer into the obdII. if you're not throwing codes, it'll pass. ( if they look under the car for visual inspection, you're SOL )
2. Pacesetter are by far the best bang for the buck.
3. the only codes you would throw w/ race style headers would be EGR or AIR. Since you have a 2000 you shouldn't have an EGR. (or was it 2001 they changed?)
