Yep, inspection is annual.

I got one of the 'new style' stickers in February.

old: http://www.plateshack.com/y2k/Texas/tx2004ws.jpg
new: http://www.plateshack.com/y2k/Texas/tx2006ws.jpg

I've always been able to remove the 'old style' stickers in one piece (so much for "any attempt to remove after being affixed to windshield will cause sticker to destruct" ), why would they want to make it any easier? They did put the license plate number and VIN on the new version, though, in an attempt to deter theft.

By making it stick from the opposite way, they're able to custom-print them easily now (since the printing surface doesn't have sticky stuff covering it). They started using the 'new style' stickers so that since they're printed on the spot, they don't have to worry about running out towards the end of the month anymore.

Here's some articles I found about it: http://www.co.travis.tx.us/tax_asses...VehicleReg.pdf

Yep. They managed to take a process that would normally take a couple of minutes and turned it into a 20 minute clusterfuck. I read over this yesterday, then realized my new tag was on the counter at home. What a piece of ****. By the time I got done removing the paper from the "tape", my fingerprints were all over it and it looks like ***.

I took and trimmed mine down with an xacto knife on the paper it came on...

has like 1/8th" border, with rounded edges... I still hate it, but it looks better than what everyone else does...
Hell i see them all the time with the little corner pull sticker still on there.......

Sorry if I offend anyone, but Texas registration/inspections are gay In Louisiana all I have to do is register it ONCE and keep my insurance up-to-date and they send me a nice sticker in the mail every 18 months, old one comes off the license plate, new one goes on it's that simple. For vehicle inspections the place my brother went to just checked his brake lights, hazards, and blinkers. Ten bucks and five minutes later he had a brand spankin new inspection sticker on his old *** 82 Cutlass When I got my car registered in Texas I got the run-around for my first two days, and when I finally came back with everything they needed they wouldn't take my check because it said DMV on it (got it from eBay finance, not my fault). Eventually someone with a kind heart and a brain showed up and said my check was fine and I was on my way with my new registration, and it only took me a month to complete Sorry for ranting, war is hell... can't wait to get back to the good 'ol U.S.A.

The man has a point... I-20 in Shreveport and I-10 near Lafayette are the worst. There's always some kinda construction going on and the roads still look the same They did kinda patch up 20 in Shreveport a lil bit though, widened it and paved it up some. I don't spend too much time in LA so driving on the roads doesn't affect me much, but puttin up with crap at any DMV/inspection site is a pain in the *** no matter where you're at, it's just more so for me in Texas.

That's ghetto as hell!! I remember when that **** used to be real big in New Orleans when the cops started tagging cars without insurance/registration and taking the plates, don't hear too much about it nowadays though. Ahh, the good ol days........
