I am looking to go for a boosted application with my 100k 98 WS6, and called MTI. They said it would be $13,195 with a forged shortblock and D1SC installed. That sounds like ... a lot. Are there any places around that are cheaper? Perhaps if I buy used parts and bring to another shop? Also, would I need a completely forged short block or would I just need to freshen up my top end and put forged low compression pistons in? I am looking for 500-600rwhp.

Well just add it up forged bottom end 2500-3500 labor to install.(No one works for free not even me.) the SC kit @4000 and labor to install. Tunning $500 + etc... They are going to make the money on sales also witch you will have to pay tax and after everything is payed for someone is going to need to make some money MTI. I ad up 8000 and that isn't even counting installation and probably not all the parts by far (Headers, Heads ???) So not flaming you just reminding you that they are there for people who don't know or don't want to do there own work etc... they have to make money. And you need to be comparing apples to apples. I don't think you gave a detailed list of what was included for that price. Good luck Mike at Icon, G-force, MTI, HPE, or anyone of the other sponsers can help you and possible heop you get it done for a little less money depending on what you want.
