Had a little project today!

Today was a good day! My window motor finally took a dump on me so I went to Auto Zone to buy a new one. Got a great price and lifetime warranty on it, printed the guide off the Net on how to change it and went to work. I am usually somewhat tech retarded, and all of the stuff came off and went back together flawlessly. There was only a couple of times that I got pissed and had to walk away for a few minutes. Anyway just thought I would share

yea, I had to do the same thing about 2 months ago. motor went out and I put some new ones in. But I had someone hold the window up when taking them out. They were frustrating...

yeah i had to be part contortionist (sp) to hold it and put the screws in...it was fun and i saved 250 bucks by not going to teh dealers

those tiny screws are a PITA to get started, it was like the bolts were barely long enough to pass thru the frame and motor flanges.

Two tricks I use:

1. I use a c-clamp to hold the bracket tight up to the inner door skin. That makes it easier to pass the little mounting bolts all the way through both the bracket and motor and get the nuts started.

2. I drill a hole in the inner door skin about the size of a nickel for the upper left bolt. The first time I did one of these I was unwilling to put an extra hole in my car. After all the frustration (I did it though) of getting that little sucker started, I have always drilled that hole on subsequent F-body motor replacments.
