Default Any lawn experts?

My grass in my front yard is turning from dark green to light green in several patches. I have no idea what's causing this. It's St Augustine lawn. I used weed and feed in the spring, then used some more fertilizer in the summer (Scotts) brand. I did the same thing last year and had no problem did I overfertilize now? What can cause color change like that. It's not yellow, just light shade of green.

Depends on what method of spreding your fertalizer you are using can affect this and the lack of rain we had until recently makes a huge difference watering with tap water is not ideal for lawns so just cause you kept it watered doesn't mean that it recieved the same nutrients it would have through rain water etc... If it were me I'd use a fertilizer with a high Iron content for greening it up right now like Ironite you can get it at any of the local stores Home Depot, Lowes etc...

Oskar, when your San Augustine grass turns from dark green to light green its due to an iron deficiency. Go to a garden center and get some Ironite (its granules in a bag) and apply it to your yard just like you would when you would fertilize. That should do the trick. Be sure and water after putting the Ironite down. Good luck!

Sweep it off of the sidewalk and driveway before you water it.

The fertilizer I used about a month ago had 2% iron (it was Scotts turf builder). Do you think I need more than that? I can go get some iron and put it down.

Is is possible that I overdid it with the other fertilizer and now I damaged the lawn?

I don't think you over did it with the Scotts fertilizer. This is about the time of the season to put down some iron anyway. I'd go ahead and put the Ironite on it and see how it does after that.
