Default Admin why the Censorship?

Just wanted to know why the thread on LA was removed without reason, or explanation. If there is an Admin that has a problem with something said then state your case... I dont understand why you would simply remove it.

Can or would someone explain? I have heard complaints about LS1.com being bad about removing something that the Administrators didnt like... Never seen it on this board before... usually if its off... it simply gets locked.

This kinda seems like Censorship to me... or fear to face facts.

i was wondering the same thing. the thread was getting a lot of interest, and i think things were in control. when i posted, it was never to cause trouble. i was actually going to post something in it, and then went to look for it, and its gone.

could you tell me why it was taken out? thanks

Mostly our opinion on what has been happening in the wake of the Hurricane. It ranged from lots of hope and well wishing to people venting their frustrations on the criminals in NO and the government for their perceived response... or lack of response... depending on everyone’s opinion.

There were some great posts... as well as some great info on the thread. I enjoy reading everyones opinion as well as adding mine.

It is sad to see that our 1st Amendment rights are not protected or sponsored here... It is a privately owned board... so thats their prerogative. I just think it reflects badly on the Administrators, LS1Tech and the Sponsors.

IMHO..........

i wasn't following the thread that closely, but i would imagine some of the remarks got out of hand and were possibly racist or rude in some way, im sure the majority of the thread was fine but some sour remarks can cause the threads to tip toe a very fine line

im sure that the mod who deleted it had a very just reason and wasn't trying to stop that discussion in anyway

if you want the topic to keep going, maybe you should start a part II and just make sure it gets kept clean

well said.
I'm sure some of my posts were out of line in some form, although I tried to keep it from that.

It is a privately owned, and moderated board. Due to that, there are restrictions to what can and can not be discussed. With that said......

There were many racists comments made by members posting in that thread, and there were members that were starting to take offense to what was being said. After ten pages, its tough to go in and censor everything. Its easier to just remove the entire thread.

From here on out, if threads get out of control and have racist content, they will also be removed. There may or may not be an explanation.

This was an Admin decision, for those that are curious.

I agree with you Slow. There may have been some comments that were on the line of offensive. In fact there was a time that I felt it necessary to post that people... regardless of color come in two types... those that help their neighbor, and those that rob him. I dont think Color is a factor in it at all...

I guess my point is that if someone makes a comment like that... That individual comment should be removed... and maybe even commented on. I believe that racism is lack of education or understanding. I hope that all people never stop learning... and I hope that in the end... we dont loose faith in humanity or our neighbors.

Removing the whole thread seems more to me like someone read it and didnt like it... instead of standing up and expressing their opinion (what our country was built upon), they took the easy way out and just removed it. THAT is how disinformation thrives within our great country!

(Can you tell I am a little passionate about it?)

<<Just read your post Cypher.... we were typing at the same time. I understand the private nature of the board (I commented on it earlier) but I belive that it is a huge shame to loose all that good information and opinions because someone made a poor comment... I wish there was some middle ground>>

I think you're missing the point. This isn't the forum in which to educate people and frankly the chances of changing someone's mind online are slim. We don't tolerate racist content on this site. In a limited instance, a single post would be edited. But when its ten pages of the same stuff, then we remove it.

I know what you're saying. I feel much the same way you do. But leaving the arguement out in the open also doesn't do anything to stifle the proliferation of the racist posting, which is what we set out to stop in the first place.

If all goes well this time next week I will be in NO helping them re-establish their communications networks. I hope that we (US Army) and we (Citizens of USA) can stand up and put our pettey problems behind us and try to imagine what it would be like to loose... everything. Not something, not allot... but EVERTHING.

Thank you to all that help.... if you do so directly... or if you simply contribue what you can afford (Money, clothes, food, etc..)

As for those who think the government is in any way not giving 100%.... Why dont you come down and give a hand. Or and be glad that there are people like the them that are willing to do all the work... so you can sit at home comfortable and complain about our responce.

Oh and Cyphur.... I created this thread... I have said what I wanted to say... If you want to lock it before somone says something stupid... feel free.
