Evolution doesn't say a word about a higher being, but if someone wants to have the opinion that it supports their faith, would you deny them? If athiests believe it makes their opinion stronger, why stop them? More power to them, I say. So many people are looking for more substance in their faith, so why not let some people find that?
Global warming is like evolution in that it is controversial, but it is a theory that is supported by numerous facts and experiments that have yet to be explained by any other theory. Sure, someone could come up with another theory, but it would have to be thoroughly tested (and become as well documented as global warming) before it could replace GW.
Best quote about global warming: "Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing -- in terms of economic policy and environmental policy."
Things would improve, but not much in our lifetimes, and maybe not even in our children's lifetimes (if we get that far before doomsday
) but people don't want to lose money now for a change we may never see with our own eyes.Incidentally, that's the same attitude of the people who didn't feel like updating the levees.

A levee made of Titanium reinforced with 10 ft thick concrete... would not stop a 30+ ft storm surge.....

Plants need CO2 to survive, but they can only filter so much- not burning any fossil fuels ever again wouldn't short their supply enough to hurt them.
The storm surge is not what drowned NO.
The storm surge is not what drowned NO.
The force of the storm and the surge in Lake P caused by it most certainly did break the levy....
