Question on sales tax
Thanks guys!
Arron
You only pay out of state sales tax on a vehicle if it is registered in the state you buy from.
if you find a cheap 600 or something let me know, seriousley.
ive never financed a car or bought from a dealer so it may work differently for them

I do this sometimes and pay taxes on $1.00
when they ask how much it was bought for. Long as you pay cash there is no paper trail and they never have asked for a bill of sale. One thing you dont want to do is register as a gift from someone. The gift tax will hit you in the ***. BUT you also need:
- a 130-U application for texas certificate of title filled out by the seller and buyer. you can get it at any tax offic and it has all the basic info on the vehicle, both of you guys, signatures, and the selling price for taxes. you can put whatever price you want on it, but you will need it to get it registered. make sure they sign it in the right places!
-before you get it registered, you'll need to get it inspected here in texas and ask for a "green form" that you will take back to the tax office. this verifies the vin, mileage, and that its legal to drive, yada, yada, yada.
i bought a bike in florida a while back and it was an easy transaction except that i forgot to get that form signed and had to mail it back for the seller to sign and send back. luckily he did, otherwise i'd be screwed.
and since there is soooooo much bike theft going on, make sure the vin matches the title, don't assume it will. if the frame is polished and doesn't have the tag on the side, it still should be stamped by the steering head.
