I saw the movie last night. I have to say, it was not what I expected. Fairly decent movie I guess. They did one hell of a job editing the previews. I don't see it being number one on the box office next week.

saw the movie and just comming out of the sand box myself this past april It had me thinking of my experiecnes. This movie is really accurate to the way Marines Act and Think. You have everything from Normal Jarheads to extreme green machines. A lot of what swaford felt in the movie I went through as well. The ending was just an emotional thing for me as well. Also for the Antics that took place in the movie, It does happen even today. Depends on your command on how lienent they are or how strict.

It was ok...

Black Hawk Down was a lot better though.

I just saw the movie tonite, and I thought it was great. I noticed a lot of people walked out disappointed, which is too bad. They missed the whole point of the movie.

I think it needed more action in the sense of killings. A large body count like Black Hawk Down would have been nice.

i liked the movie. only thing i would have done differently is left out anything that was like Full Metal Jacket, such as the part showing recruit Swofford getting choked. they could've took the original of pyle being choked in FMJ and looped it into this movie without very many people noticing. it was almost the exact same shot. now i know some producers/directors are into paying "homage" to previous films, but it shouldn't be so obvious.so, isay its better than full metal jacket, about even with Rules of Engagement, but still has to bow down to the king of Marine movies, Heartbreak Ridge.

The movie wasn't supposed to be about death and killing! This movie was giving live accounts of how life was when they went to desert storm/shield. Very similar to the way I lived when I went to iraq. Just cuz they go to war and they don't kill doesn't make it bad. In my eyes if you go to war and you don't kill anyone your the lucky one.

Thank you!! This movie was about the personal story of Anthony Swofford, its a true account, based on the book he wrote. Not some shoot-em-up kill-em-all movie. I think they could have stretched the ending out a little, explained it better for those who haven't read the book, but other than that I think they did well overall. Jake Gyllenhaal did a great job with the role he played, as did Jamie Foxx.
