Default Quick question on texas jobs
Hi guys, I had a quick question on jobs. Here in Ca we can quit a job without notice and not have any penalties or string attached whatsoever. What is Texas' standing on this? Thanks in advance

You can do what ever you want here, Just dont steal our horses! And why would you have penalties for quitting, if you work , you will or should get payed. Its notlike they will make you work 2 more weeks for free?

Here in Ca we can quit a job without notice and not have any penalties or string attached whatsoever
is there anywhere thats its not like that???

The penalties in some states, like mine (okla) they can hold your paycheck for 2 extra weeks.

What, I'm from OK and I've never heard of that. I've never walked out on a job, but know people who have. They either came up to work on payday, or just had it mailed to them.

its just in your best interests to give notice, even if you extremly hate your job. cuz when you go to apply to another one, it can come back to haunt you if they call your previous employer for a reference.

I've walked out on enough jobs to say it's not good when it comes times to look for another job.
They ask for references and I get stuck, but thankfully, I've gotten pretty good at finding "references"

If you owe vacation time then they will take it out of your last paycheck, but i believe many companies are like that

Not quite any reason - they can't fire you because of race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual preference. Of course you would think that if an employer was prejeduced they would not have hired them in the first place.

They can legally hold your check for 2 weeks past the week you quit and after those 2 weeks, tell you its not a payday and make you come back on the next payday. Not too many ppl do it, but it is something they can legally do and when bitter, they do it. I have had it happen to me when I quit at my moms friends business.

In Texas you have to give someone their final paycheck within 1 week.
