Default Never thought it would happen to me...

While driving back home from College this morning, my driver's side t-top flew off. Luckly it didnt hit my car, or any one else's. I heard a small whine, and I thought my door wasn't closed all the way. (window was up) So I open the door, so I could shut it closed. As soon as I opened the door, the t-top caught the air, and shot up like a rocket. I tried to grab it after I was scared shitless of what was actually happening, but it was long gone. Just watched it shatter in my mirror going about 50mph.

Anyways, Just thought I would tell everyone to lock those t-tops. I never did, and I never thought it would happen to me.

Anyone have one that they don't need?

just go to the junk yard, if you stopped and picked up your broken one they can change out the lock at a locksmith place so youll still have only one key for both tops, my dad didnt lock down my drivers side one day and I lost it

on the feader of I-45 & Sawdust in the Woodlands...there was a white sedan about 50 yards back. I think he/she about had a heart attack! They swerved to the other lane. Luckly no one got hurt though.

Sorry to hear about that man. Did you go back and get it? Like 1genCamaro said, its better to have one key for both.

I was there when that happened, they were asking if he could borrow anyone's t-top so he could keep running.

Keep them latched and locked people,
Craig.

It's not about locking them too much, it's about latching them in.
You guys/gals need to check and see if your tops are latching in place enough. Sometimes those slide adjusters can back out, or they never were tight from the factory and they can fly out even when latched in.
If the bars don't slide in enough pull your a-piller, and the back trim piece, adjust the sliders for a better fit, and put a little bit of grease on the bars.

Peace,
Craig.

i take mine off too much to lock them. I just latch them in and mine are real tight so I wouldnt think it could come undone by itself

It's not about locking them. That just stops people from stealing them.

Latch = Holds in place

Lock = No theft (we hope)

Are we on the same page yet? lol

Peace,
Craig.

yeah there was a thread about this in some other section. people get confused over interpretation of locking.

I say latch = handle popped in close postion
lock = handle latched and key in lock position, locking handle closed.

i neve lock mine, just latch them which is common sense i hope
