Default Why must this continue to happen to ME!

I am going to post this in here and in couple of other forums.......

I am tired of my stupid bolts backing out of my 12 bolt. When I say bolts, I mean the bolts that hold the torque arm on. I have an adjustable torque arm. I have tried lock tight, lock washers, and everything! What can I do to fix this problem?

I am going with the BMR Extreme tq arm and it clearly states that there is an issue an no warranty covered with the Mosers, etc regarding bolts backing out. I'm curious if the threaded bolts can be machined through and I can use the long bolts that way. also considered extra long fine thread bolts with a fine thread turnbuckle type 2" nut in the middle (reverse threaded each end) that way you could thread into it from both ends and it would not go anywhere. I need to measure see if the bolt holes (top and bottom) even line up over one another first. I'll figure out something bulletproof.

One of the reasons I'm leaning towards a Strange 9".

You can buy bolts with drilled heads or drill yours and lock wire them together with .040 safety wire.

Saftey wire. Do it once, and never have to worry about it again.

Yeah I was a Cobra gunship crew chief in the Army and I'm a licensed FAA A&P mechanic. We used .040 stainless on the engine mount bolts on most of the business jets I worked. It's easy to do and easy to check for slippage with slippage paint.

I was in the Diving program and a Hull Tech, not an Airdale but I worked with them. Our fireteam would help the aircrew with the Lamps MKIII chopper. I was on an FFG Guided Missle Fast Friggate.

Maybe you can shoot me some details on the slippage paint, not sure how that works. Guess I could get some predrilled bolts or get mine done but what would they lock to? For example the top bolts on the 12 bolt like the bottom have the axle housing between them, I've seen the wirelocks between adjacent bolts just not sure on this, unless I would tie top to bottom. Open for suggestions.

a motorcycle shop should have most of the tools you need to do this. Also a short search on yahoo will give you pics and a lot more on how its done.

Colonel Boobies in Galveston, TX ought to have the old Navy tool that looks like a pair of pliers and handrill to speed wire them together, or an aircraft mechanics parts store...yeah they are all over the place
