I lost a new jeep about 20 years ago right near your location, They send you to a rental place that will give you a car, then after about 30 days they make you an offer, but be prepared to show that your car is worth more that the average, mods, low miles, condition, rarety, cause if it is financed you may not even get enough to pay it off, I got a couple thousand more for mine cause I argued that because it was only 3 months old and showed examples of ones advertized much higher than their offer. Be prepared cause it is just a game to them and the do have some leeway. I bought a new corvette and never saw my jeep again. Good luck.
Thanks everybody. I appreciate all the comments. I did call HPD about the Trans Am on the West Loop - wasn't mine. But, worth the phone call anyways. I'm trying to find all my receipts for the mods. Crazy insurance forms to fill out, too. Augh!! I SO wish I had caught 'em doing it!!!!

Dont forget to call GM about those key codes! When we run a VIN # through their system, it is logged that this VIN had gotten a key code request in case **** like this happens.. Hopefully that will yield some good info! Crack down HARD on the dealer that made that key!

We could almost be neighbors. I will be sure to keep and eye out for YOUR ride. I have a lawn service co. and I work at HFD Sta. 18 so I am ALLWAYS driving on this side of town.
If it is any consolation, yesterday we transported one of these thugs to the hospital from a HPD sting operation on the SE side (Griggs @ I 45). We transported him with a gunshot wound
. The guy also had a K9 bite that occured a few days ago. So this wasn't his first run-in with the law. So that is one less on the streets......for now!

that sucks. i live right down the road from you over by blackhawk and about a year ago my z28 just about got broken into. the theif tryed to pry the window open. someone mustve passed by seen it and the theif took off. that was a bad feeling alone. cant imagine the feeling of it just being completely stolen

that would be the ultimate surprise. 
I had someone messing with my 02, they had pried back the window trying to get through the t-tops but I guess they got scared off. the window was still pried open from them trying to get into it. sorry to hear about that.

Dude, that sucks and iam near you, on hwy3... Man still not knowing where it is would be driven me crazy....I would have to skip work for a week and CRY
