From: MI for now TX in a few weeks
Default New to Texas

Hey everyone, Myy name is Brandon. I just moved to texas about 2 weeks ago from Michigan. I was just lookin to see if there are any meeting points anywhere. I dont know anyone out here. I moved to BayCliff for a job in Houston and spend my nights at my bosses house till I can get my own place. I dont really have much time after work as I do 10 to 11 hours a day 6 days a week but I need to get out and meet some people.

So far I have to say its nothing like I thought it would be. Its alot greenier then I would of guessed and the drive to houston sucks my ***. Not used to such ******* drivers and wall to wall traffic. It was 40 degrees and snowing when I left MI, and its came close or may have hit 80 here already, from what I understand summers are far worse. I am only used to it getting to 85 degrees in MI but its a dry heat not this humid heat.

Also I got a ticket in some town called Naco.... I forget how to spell it. How long do I have to pay it? It was for 10 over and it was crap and they singled me out and not the other 2 cars behind me or the 2 in front of me. Must of been my pretty blue MI plates I guess. Figures after 20 hours of driving I get the ticket not 3 hours from my destination. Guess it made up for the 120 through Arkansas, nothin is in that state.

Well thanks for your time, hope to meet some of you guys sometime. Sorry for bad spelling and grammer been a long day. Later all.

Ah ha! I think its a ticket from Nacogdoches. First off, as a resident of Nac while in college, let me appologize for our BS police force. They hate F-bods. We have a met at Sonic every tuesday and the drive by 10-12 times in about an hr, just waiting for us to screw up.

I don't know how long you have to pay your ticket, but ask for deferred adjudication, its like probation and if you don't get another ticket for 90 days, it disapears. Defensive driving is also an option.

Welcome to Texas, we are glad your here!

welcome to texas!

Houston traffic does suck, get a good DD, if you don't want to put the T/A through that abuse.

there's probably someone on here that would be willing to show you around the area, i'm not gonna volunteer anyone though.

you kinda get used to the weather.

Welcome to Texas !!! Horsepower USA ( thanks mostly to Houston). Home of the best BBQ, Best Racing, Best People, and the Baddest Women God ever let two people create. I live in the DFW area but lived in Houston for 3 years and if you can avoid the drama types you will never meet a better bunch of people. houstonians are different and take a minute to get use to but the ones I know and met are all great you will be glad you moved here well until August and when another Hurricane decides to tease the coast. Remember this the only thing worse than Texas in July is Texas in August !!!!
