Can I drive 4.5 hours with my hood off?
Hey Guys,
Heres a question for ya. I am meeting someone to buy an SS hood, Im going from Tyler, TX to Antler, OK taking 271 the whole way. I was just gonna install the new hood when I met the guy, figured it only takes a few minutres right?
Is it bad for my car, will anything fly off if I drive 75 mph for 4.5 hours with my hood off? What happens if it rains? Will I get pulled over and given a ticket, as Im sure Ill pass a state trooper on my way there.
Thanks,
Lane

ehhh....tell you the truth, if you do get pulled over just explain to the cop what is going on and than he probly be cool, about it.......maybe.....
probly if you drive threw a monsoon it will **** some **** up but just your normal sprinkle to light rain i wouldnt think it would **** anything up
and nothin should fly off, i mean the factory does a good job of strapping everything down for it doesnt bounce around and ****...
btw, i just finshed bagging my truck like 2 weeks ago, and i drove without my bed for a week, and i passed and seen several state troopers, HPD officers and a few local baytown cops.....and no one said or did anything ....just looked at me like WTF is that!!!

Im not worried about bugs just didnt want anything to fly off or get damaged.
There shouldn't be any problems throwing the hood on my car should there? It should just bolt right up with a little adjustment?

shoudl be fine, dont it a lot, just make sure your wiring harness is bolted down securely. if your good with sheetmetal you *might* want to make a deflector in front of your intake, just to keep rocks/bugs/debris you *might* encounter out of your belts/accessories. ive gotten small debris in my belts on the track once, broke my tensioner and something else.

find a pickup to borrow and go pick up the hood, or leave the stock hood there. driving 5 hours w/o a hood is just kinda dumb. the mess you'll create for yourself, invariably, will not be fun.

Its hard to find someone to let me borrow a pick up for an entire day though. Its a total 9 hour drive. Probably does make more sense though.

rent a truck from enterprise.
actually its a hood. rent a minivan, take the seats out before you leave, enjoy 30mpg the whole way there. put in your new hood. drive home enjoying 30mph, remove your hood from its enclosed bug/debris free cabin, re install seats, return rental, install and enjoy new hood.
