Default New Motor Trend

In the new motor trend the compare the $172K Ford Accufab GT at 720HP, $187K Hennessey Viper at 1100 HP, $225K Lingenfelter Vette at 1000 HP, $70K Livernois stang, $75K MTI GTO at 900HP and a stock 06 ZO6. With all this HP and money thrown into the cars the fastest 1/4 was 11.5 with the GT. The $225K vette only managed a 11.9. I am no car expert but if I spent that much money I want a hell of a lot faster car. What do the magazines do to get such crappy numbers or can they not drive at all. It did say that only the lingenfelter and hennessey had drag radials.

motortrend blows ***,but if they were foreign cars,they would have went mid 10's. But that is quite a bit of hp to try and hook up with cars that are more setup for handling,not the strip

700+ HP and street tires (PS2's) will not net you great times in the quarter. But I bet you those cars fly on the highway...

if they were seriously wanting to compare they would of thrown slicks on the cars.. sounds like more of a circus
motortrend new it would make the stock z06 look ludacris fast vs tuner cars.. cause the stock z06 could hook w/ its 345 street tires and 450rwhp.

haven't read the article. I'm curious as to why MTI only sent a GTO and not one of their badass Corvettes?

To answer your question, yes most magazine drivers are known for their weak wristed shifting when it comes to 1/4-mile times.

If I can remember right, Motor Trend told MTI to bring something else besides a Vette, LPE was already bringing one.

I just bought the mag tonight and thumbed through it. It was an "ok" article, the suprise dyno was cool but the suprise Cali emissions test was weak.

You will see soon enough guy Those guys are too old to drive all that power I bet with a good track and slicks it will be a differnt story

i read the article, the Ling Vette took a rear out with the stickies I just looked at the MPH which were very high, 140ish's and before the LIng went down it clocked a 151mph in the 1/4

Yeah, normally when non performance magazines do test on cars you always have to look at the trap speed to see what the car is capable of.

There will be a timer, at 10sec a window will popup. You'll have to close it to view the download link. The server is pretty fast so it should DL pretty quick. Then just use an unzipping program (WinZip or WinRar) to view the files.

All the tuners set up their cars to "last" not to go all out and break in these events.

I can assure those are some of the "top" street cars in the nation, by some of the best tuners in the world.

I saw the GTO in person and the thing is a beast.

Nail on the head..motor trend as well as automobile is biased as ****. If it were a fuggin lambo would have gotten 10 pages of layout.

The article proves one thing about a street car, you can make all the power you want, but you are limited by the tires you run. All those cars are making really good power, just look at the mph through the 1/4 mile or the mph through the standing mile. Besides the Livernois Mustang that broke all the other cars have 20+ mph on the 505 hp Z06 through the mile. Look at how much the Ling. Vette and Hennessey Viper picked up with a switch to drag radials.
