Default 32 PSI Oil Pressure, HELP!

just had a new cam & pushrods & springs & Head Gaskets & new Timing chain, put in my 2000 Formula, I just bought the car in march & noticed the car had low Oil Pressure, On start up after sitting all night when I would start the car, The car would idle around 40 psi on the stock gauge for the oil pressure. But after about 30 mins or so once the car had warmed up it would drop to about 32 psi on my stock Oil Pressure gauge.

My question is 32 psi Oil Pressure something I should be worried about or is this normal for my car

The shortblock has 103,000 miles on it & has had a fair amount of Nitrous through the motor from the last owner.

well part of the lower oil pressure is due to it being summer and hot as hell. I dont think you have any thing to worrie about just when u get the chance just get a ported ls6 oil pump.

With my stock ls6 pump I idle at 40psi, 50psi during normal driving and 60psi@WOT, while it is still warming up it sits at about 50psi as well. Hope this helps.

it could be the Hawk Brake pads or quite possibly the T/A Girdle

like mentioned above , was this at idle , or at what RPM range did it drop to 32psi?

When the car is first started up in the morning it will idle at 40 psi when first started up, After taking the car out & driving it, Say for example I am at a stop light the car will after warmed up idle at 32 psi. The oil pressure does go up to 50 to 60 psi on a WOT hit though.

What can I do to get the car to idle at 40 psi all the time in this Texas Heat. Also is installing a Ported LS6 Oil Pump something I can do in my garage on the weekend & how involved of a project is it?

Thanks for all the history on your car. That can make a difference when you diagnose an oil pressure problem.

Do you really think 8 psi....32 to 40 is going to make a difference. I mean seriously, you've got to be kidding...RIGHT?

I was under the impression that if my Oil Pressure was under 40 psi that this was a red flag & should be worried.

No I was not kidding,Yes I did think 8 PSI would make a diffrence by the way! Never hurts to ask then learn the hard way! I am out maybe 10 mins of time to give myself a peace of mind.

i was told that you need at least 10 psi per 1000 rpms..and you are safe..my idle psi is about where yours is...it should be fine..

You are absolutly correct. Have seen as low as 12 psi at idle, The oil pressure will get lower as the oil temperature increases.

I was at a Gm dealership and asked a tech there to check what GM specs are for a 99 LS1 oil pressure. I was shocked....6psi at idle and 20psi at 4000 rpms...thats weird

My car used to be low like that, but not that low. I dunno what it was, but after I did my last oil change, its quite high. I know I didn't add too much. So, a cold start up is like 60-70 psi. Warm idle is 45-50 and WOT is 75.

mostly all 23* motors pull less pressure with a stock pump... high volume pumps are good up grades... just by stock pump and put a high pressure spring and your good to go on the lt1

my lt1 warm and during driving sits around 35 or so psi. At idle and stop it at 20 psi.

They say for the LT1 every 1k rpms should be 10 psi or something like that,
