GM has to pay UAW workers to make them and Teamsters to deliver them. You want ridiculous buy a GM factory U-joint for $80, the sad thing is 99% of the time they'll have an aftermarket one for $10 on the shelf.

Still cheaper than honda parts. Some Honda cv axles are $500 each, when you can get some at ABC for $100 for the pair with a lifetime warranty.

So you're balming the high parts prices all on the worker's compensation?? And you're saying that the aftermarket companies use non-union workers, so that's why their parts are cheaper?

I was quoted $64 each for valve stem seals!! That's 16 x $64! I told the parts guy that i could go and BUY A SET OF HEADS cheaper than that!

There are a lot of things wrong with GM that they can't easily fix. They've got to make a profit where they can and it's not by selling cars with $4000 rebates or 0% interest for 6 years.

Toyota and Honda don't have union labor and they pay tarriffs on parts, don't discount anything and are very profitable. Take that 20% tax off on everything they ship over and the big three couldn't touch their prices. Hell Toyota even raised most of their prices this year to help keep GM in business.

They pay the same for raw materials, hell probably more since it has to be imported. Their engineering is probably about the same, the cost of living for their employees is substantially higher. Yet they make a hefty profit selling cars here and the big 3 don't. Something has to be to blame. Just wait until Honda starts selling those Chinese built cars here and you'll really see GM start sweating.

Japanese execs also don't earn 400 x the avg. of their employee's salary. We have something over here in this country called GREED that they don't seem to have a problem with over there.
