Would it be stupid to lift a 2WD truck? I've been thinking about it, but it will only be for looks. Just something with some 35's on it. Does anybody have any pics of one?

I don't think it would look stupid, but it would be pointless. Why put a bad *** lift on a truck when you can't even take it out for fun?

Fabtech makes a ton of 2WD systems.. I know plenty of people that lift their 2WD's and still beat the hell out of them off-road.. 2WD's are actually better for jumping

What's the difference between lifting a 2WD for looks and lifting a 4WD, putting 22s on it, and NEVER taking it off road?

I used to think lifting 2WDs was dumb, but now everyone lifts stuff with no intentions of going off road anyway.

That's true. Lifting a 4wd and not taking it out is just as dumb...
I don't see how anyone could stand it. Every time it rains, I get antsy to play in the mud.

I'll have to agree to that.. I love the truck with 10" lifts and 24" rims with low profile street tires.. Since when did Mexicans start swinging the other way?

My 02 GMC was a lifted 2wd. Had a 6" suspension lift. As much as it would flash-flood here in Houston, it was driven many times in water nearly up to the bottom of the doors. I saw several stock height Z71s that couldn't hang with it in those situations

Took it offroad a few times, but didn't go 'mudding' with it obviously. You can go offroad and hit some nice trails and such without needing a 4x4. It was also just fine at the beach.

LOL, I had an S10 Blazer in high school, it was 2WD w/ the 4.3 V6. I had a 3" Fabtech lift and some 31" tires. It wasn't big or anything by any means, but I went off-road as much as possible. I know, I know ... a lifted 2wd S10 blazer.

It always pisses me off when people pour money into the 4wd vehicles and never take them off road.

I had a lifted two wheel drive been there and done that. In my personal opinion I would not screw up a good truck. Not to mention your handling performance and fuel mileage all will suffer. I also used a fabtech complete kit on mine in 1996 when they first started to hit the scene. It looks good but after a while it all gets old

just curious, do the fabtech 2wd versions push the front wheels out like they do on 4wd versions?
saw a 2500hd the other day with one and the fronts looked 4" outside of the others.

I'm thinking about lifting my truck if I keep it much longer... cst maybe?

I see nothing wrong with it. There's no difference between lifting a 2wd and slamming one. It's just one's personal preference when it comes to the stance of their vehicle.

I think it is pointless to lift a 2wd, and I think it is pointless to do this. But at 125+, a lowered truck feels a lot more stable.

Yep and when rolling through thick loose sand on the beach, I'm sure a lifted 2wd truck feels a tad bit more "stable"..since it's frame won't be dragging the ground and all.

If you want to lift your truck for looks, the occasional trip to the beach or high water, then go for it. Fabtech makes good stuff, and there is nothing wrong with 2wd lifts. However if deep down inside you really want a 4wd truck. Don't do it. Go trade in your truck. I had friends who have went the 2wd lift route and loved it. I almost bought the lift for my ram 2wd. I realized I would still want a 4wd and I would have3000 into lift and tires. Bad idea. If you want looks do it. Insurance is cheaper, and you can still go places you couldn't before.

My point is do what ever you wish. It is your vehicle and you only know how you are going to use it. I had a guy at my old high school that had the tallest lifted 2wd in Texas. Each to his own.

Yeah, I always see guys with a 4WD jacked up but don't have a front drive shaft. That what I think is pointless! But yeah, just for looks, mudding tears up way too much ****...but I guess so does racing!!

I totally agree , If you want to do something to your vehicle do it because you like it and not because everybody else thinks it should be a certain way. It is your car and your money so do what makes "you" happy. Now, my opinion on this is that i like the look of lifted trucks infact one of my bosses has a lifted crewcab 2WD chevy and it looks awesome. Might not be for offroading but he knows it looks nice
