Yep, UT's big problem is Greg Davis. He is TOO conservative and puts NOTHING on the line. Those damn screen passes to the outside reciever and running constant counters will not get you anywhere.

Also helps when he had Vince young carry him last year. Being that mobile made his job easier. Colt McCoy is good but ultra young and needs to build the offense around that.

I don't know how many Offensive coordinators have National Championships in their hip pocket and 5+ 10-1 seasons. He's not perfect by any means but I don't think he's that bad honestly.

Talent saves his job every time. He is still used to a 6' 5" QB who could have 1,000 plus yard rushing seasons.

That's cool that you know him. If he's in town next spring or summer you'll have to bring him by a meet. I'd love to meet him once, just to shake his hand and say thanks. I love watching him fly down the field, especially when he's got the ball in his hands
He used to come out to them with me all the time when we were in HS, but not so much now. If its something big going on in early jan. ill try and drag him out.

7 wins, 1 loss to the number one team in the nation aint too bad friend.

Also, the QB he has now is a RS freshman, who has tossed 20 TDs to 3 picks.

Not sure what else you could expect.

Personally I wouldnt want to be QB for texas after vince left. Too big of shoes to fill and too much criticism by the world. No matter how good you really are, if your not better than vince....

I was at the game and DAMN it was cold!
great game though.

The fans in Nebraska are the best Ive heard about them so I wanted to go to the game this year to experience it myself. They are so friendly and badass to hang out with. We met up with a few guys tailgating it and gave them some of our TX shiner beer to try out. They invited us to their tent and gave us free food and beer(and liquor). After the game they were all just as cool and we hung out with all the huskers for awhile

one hell of a weekend

Just being any QB at Texas is hard. The fans here wanted Vince Young to be a wide out in 03. In 2004 (at the start of the year) they wanted him as a wideout also. When Applewhite came in and took the job from Shey everybody was crying foul and saying how major was not fit to be a QB. Then Simm's took his job and Applewhite became a mini-legend in Austin. I guess my point is, these fans wouldn't be happy with anybody or anything unless their team is undefeated and trouncing opponents by 40+ points. I heard people in my office bitching about beating Nebraska in the closing seconds. As if Nebraska was an unranked or a WAC/Sunbelt team.

Nothing is ever good enough around here but pure perfection. I guess that's typical just about everywhere though.

no, like gray mentioned, greg davis is saved by talent... we are TO conservative... he has no playbook depth, and is pulled out by the defense constantly.

I have watched it go on for to long... we always have the talent, but shitty play calling is going to create hell for us if he doesnt change up the playbook

Well I agree that our playbook sucks. I hate seeing the ZONE READ with a pocket passer. It doesn't even make sense. I still don't see how we can blame Gregy totally.
