Back in the day (early 1800's), Texans were a fiercly indpendent group of people struggling to survive. At first, they had to protect themselves from Indian attacks. So the Mexican government was kind enough to offer them a canon to help protect them. As years went on, the Indians were less of a threat, but the tyrany of the Mexican government grew. As Texans began to consider their own independence, the Mexican government got worried about the canon they had given them. So they asked for it to be returned to them. In the true spirit of Texas independance, they gave their reply back to Mexico:

COME AND TAKE IT!

This same independent spirit lives within many Texas drag racers today. So with this series, we are proud to call our 1/8 mile Heads-Up 10.5 and Index Series, the COME AND TAKE IT SHOOTOUT!

If you have the car, the crew and the driver that can COME AND TAKE IT - take the whopping to the compeition..... Take the money...... Take the trophies..... And have a great time doing so, then please come and race with us!

YEAH, WE GOT SOME AGGIES THAT ARE GONNA BRING A CANON. ACTUALLY, I REALLY THINK THAT IS A GOOD IDEA. WE MAY TRY TO HAVE A REAL CANON TO BLOW OFF TO START AND END THE EVENT. MAYBE GET SOME TEXAS INDPENDENCE RE-ENACTORS TO COME OUT AND PUT ON A SHORT SHOW.

I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS. TELL ME WHAT YOU LIKE. I THINK WE WILL FOLLOW INDEXES ALREADY IN PLACE AT OTHER AREA TRACKS LIKE HMP, ETC. UNLESS THERE ARE GOOD REASONS NOT TO.

WE WILL GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO AN 8.0 CLASS. SO YOU DONT HAVE TO BE SUPER FAST TO COMPETE.

THE ENTRY FEES WILL BE ABOUT THE SAME AS OTHER EVENTS. THE PAYOUT WILL BE MORE.

Sounds good John!

I would recommend having a .500 pro tree for the index classes and allow deep staging so the foot brake cars stand a chance against the transbrake cars.

Follow the same index classes as the other tracks and you will draw a crowd.

You may also consider throwing in a single pass Jackpot run to see who gets closest to their dial in or index.

Just a thought.

Very true, HMP has great turnouts for their index events.If the race is properly ran and the track is hooking you will bring a crowd. Maybe something like 5.80, 6.20, 6.20, 6.60, 7.00, 7.50, and 8.00? And have set rules so there is no debating and arguments and no 7.00 ish stuff! If you can do that and make it on weekends that their arent other index races then I think youll have a good race!
