Default Coming to Houston soon!

I just got a co-op in Houston with Halliburton for the spring and summer. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for housing (Beltway 8 & JFK surrounding area, Humble)? Just need a one room apt with internet and possibly a garage.

Also, are there any kind of regular meets in that area?? I'm excited to come and I'll finally have some REAL money to start modding the car. Thanks for your help ahead of time.

id go north of that area...TRUST ME...i live in the woodlands, its one of the best and safest areas in houston imo.IF not here then Spring wich is between the woodlands and BUSH IAH(plus we have tons of meets in Spring) the hardy toll road starts here and one of the points where it ends is at the airport. Takes me 5-10 min to get to where the halliburton buiding is.

I work at Beltway 8 and I45, I would reccomend you either go up 59 to Kingwood area, or up 45 to Spring/ woodlands area.

I ship a lot of cargo for Halliburton, ocean freight.

I pass Haliburton every day, going to work. If you get on the beltway and head East, cross over 59, and go about 2 miles, there are two different apartment complexes. Both are very nice, and brand new. Not sure on the price, but they are in front of an expensive neighborhood. Those would be about 5 minutes from Haliburton.

What is your budget for an apt?

If you want to have FUN while in Houston, move to Midtown (near downtown). It is only a 20 minute drive to work, opposite of traffic in both directions.

Probably $400-600 for a one bedroom, maybe more. The shorter the drive the better.

Thanks for the input guys, I need to go find one within a couple months, I'll have a few ideas of places to look.

I'll be in a lab for Sperry/Sun doing failure analysis on drill collars and the stuff that goes inside, analyzing welds, etc; basically figuring out why their expensive stuff breaks.

Small world, I too work for Halliburton on the Beltway. I say Spring is where you want to be. I live just south of the woodlands and it takes me about 15 mins down the Tollway to get to Work. Halliburton is a great Place to work you should love it, Lots of F-Bodies and Vettes in the Parking Lot

Thanks Carl, it was too cold last week for me, and the car was dirty, I don't like getting caught ridin' dirrrty. Haha, we should definitely get a photoshoot or something together sometime soon though. I saw those pics you took and they looked pretty good, plus I don't have my camera with me right now.

Do you know of any good apartments in Spring? It's good to hear too that some other GM guys will be there. I'll need someone to talk cars with.

uh almost every friday and/or sat we meet at the hooters at 45 and 1960 then tuesdays there is a meet 249@1960. I see fbodies all the time in spring...now in the woodlands I am maybe one of a dozen out here.

The apartments at northgate crossing are fine. Just if you have a pet they dont allow them.

Apartments in Spring are going to be a little more expensive than say around they airport. But there is a big reason. To me the extra little money is well worth it.

I use to work for a management company and I use to "shop" apartments and do appraisals. One thing you should always do is get some kind of move in special. If they dont tell you about one, ask.

I think you'll find apartments closer to 550-750 for a single bedroom, unless you find a great deal or a shabby complex. I've been looking around the NW/West side of town (around the beltway), and in my case it makes more sense to look for a house.

Good luck!
