any suggestions?? on suspension mod? tires? I'm thinking about taking mine to a track event in a couple of weeks. Only reason i'm not sure about it is my new clutch will have about 100 miles on it. I got free tracktime and free tires though so i dunno.

Just an FYI ....
Mineral Wells is a huge tarmac that used to be an old army helicopter base. Big, open space.
BUT ... it hasn't been repaved since the 50s. The surface is rough and abrasive. It's a tire eater. Be careful.
Pennington Field is in Euless and is a lot better.
BUT ... it's much smaller and consequently a LOT tighter. Hondas and Miatas are the preferred car ...
Texas Motorspeedway parking lot is smooth as glass and a great venue ...
BUT ... as long as it's dry. It gets really slick when it rains.
AX was a lot of fun for me. It was just the transition I needed to get me away from part and wallet eating drag racing.
BUT ... there is a lot of standing around and waiting. I got bored really easy with it.
I assume you are talking about the ER AX club. I instruct at Texas Motorspeedway with Gerry and Neal, both Er regulars. Gerry is the chapter president. Don't misunderstand ... it's a lot of fun.
Your Firehawk, depending on mods, will probably be put in a class that makes it tough to be competitive. So, don't be discouraged if Subarus or Hondas are turning better lap times. It's just the nature of the beast SCCA Solo 2 has created.
In AX, autos are just as competitive as manuals. In an M6 with 373 gears, most AX track designs allow you to stay in 2nd gear the whole time. So, the trans excuse is a wash.
If and when any of you get ready to try your hand on a closed circuit road course, let me know and I can help you find an organization that to meet your needs.

i was watching speed channel at 3am on tuesday night and they had scca racing. they had a series called the American Sedan Series. it was all mustangs and camaros. there was a guy running a 98+ formula with a t/a front bumper, maybe you can get an idea of what your setup needs to be like from that car, he finished in second place
