Haven't seen anyone mention Emo's. That's where I went the most (when I actually went in to Houston). Otherwise it was a kicker bar in Humble or Midnight Rodeo in Spring (where a buddy of mine jumped the fence to go touch the blimp one night... 
but chickened out and turned back).
