Default Car got hit.

Well it figures the last day of my finals and somebody has to hit me.

The damage is not bad, but looks like some things might be out of alignment.

I got his insurance policy and info. He also said he knows somebody that can do the work as well.

I want some opinions Please (my front bumper cover has a hole in it on the driver side, so it would be pointless to paint the front with that hole.)

Who cares if he knows somebody. He didn't do you any favors by running into you, don't do him any favors by putting money in his/his friends pockets.

If you don't care, just call his insurance company, settle and cash the check. If you want to fix it, the adjuster may conceed the hole in the bumper cover and include that in the cost of the repair

Looks like he smeared poop on your car. Any case, dont go to his friend, take the check and go to a reputable place. Or you can do this, since the car is so old and may need to be repainted any way due to age, buff it out as well as possible and save your insurance check in a savings acount and put it towards repainting the entire car. The insurance will only want to repaint that section, so its not going to match

I made the claim on geico. (his insurer) How do I go about pocketing the $$ for it? I can buff out most, but there seems to be some spidering in the paint due to flexing.

Id get the body work done and run it in primer until you can get the whole car painted.

You have 3 basic options
1) fix it with Geicos recommended repair shop..drop it off, they fix it
2) Fix it at your repair shop..drop it off, adjuster comes, body shop and adjust work things out and your car is fixed
3) Take the check and do what you wish. This is most easily done if you own the car outright. If you still owe on it, then the Geico has to write the check to the bank and this can be a hassle.

What I have done in the past is gone to 2 or 3 reputable body shops and gotten estimates for repair. Tell them the guy had no insurance and you only have liability, otherwise most of them won't write and esitimate because they are lazy. I will then tell Geico that I want the money outright and that I will have my own personal body man do the work. You will then take it to their adjuster and he will decide what the damage will cost to fix and he will cut a check to you (or bank). In my experience, the adjuster has been reasonable on his repair estimate.

That piece of **** denied that he came into my lane, yet there are no marks on his vehicle, yet tire marks on mine. Geico now will not give me any money to fix it. (his ins)
My deductible is $500 the damage is $500.

State farm will take gieco to court, but will not take action unless I make a claim.

This makes me want to take the law into my own hands.

I really feel like looking his address up going to his house and poppin 4 tires. GRRRRRR! If i ever see him again there is gonna be some action.

I tried to use his ins. I went and got a damage estimate and all of that, and then they denied me a claim because he is lyin saying he was in the lane already before he hit me.

It just does not make sense given the pictures above. Clearly those are tire marks on the car.

(we were both taking a left turn in a double lane. After coming through the turn someone slammed brakes on in his lane, and he swerved into mine and clipped me)

Well I couldnt take the fact that I was getting shafted so bad on this deal, so I called back gieco and asked for a supervisor. I talked to the supervisor and basicly she had not reviewed my case yet. I then explained things, and said that there would be no way for the marks to be on my car if compared to the other guys story. The supervisor said why shouldnt I think that your car made contact to his in the other lane. (The other adjuster mistakenly gave me part of his statment saying that he was in my lane before we made contact.) I then state what the original adjustor said about lane position and that it would be impossible if she looked at the (tire marks)pictures. She says she will do a full review and call me back the next day.

Well today I get a call to my amazment saying that I will get my ins check for 500.00 and that they were sorry.

Lesson here.

Always get the cops to the scene for hard evidence. (I believe the Ins company knew that I was in a bad spot and denied my claim.)

Never let things go without talking to a supervisor.
The one I talked to was very nice and polite.

I will most likley not get the car painted at this time, untill enough money for full paint.
