Just got my car on friday. Went to the track last night and I had to take it back to carmax to get the stereo fixed and when I pulled up I heard a very bad noise in the rear end. So I just got off the phone with them and the rear end is shot. I really hope this is not a long process to fix. Anyone else had the problem?

This makes me

Just depends on what is broken and if parts are in stock locally. Most likely it is your posi unit, possibly the gear set. Figure 2 days if they aren't wasting time getting parts.

I hope only two days that would be great.

i bought mine at the carmax behind texas stadium(dallas), it also had rear end noise, good luck it took them 5 times before i made them pay another dealer to do it right. Hope you luck is better, it usually takes 1-2 days depending on parts.

This is my opinion and opinions are like **** holes...everyone's got one.

If you race and **** breaks....dont be suprised because thats part of it.

A good way to keep your car from breaking is not to launch it on a sticky drag strip

The strip it what makes it fun. Just think I need to let it cool off a lil between races next time.

where is the posi set, how much is one, and how hard is it to replace in my garage?

I've got real bad wheel up, torque doesn't seem to be being equaled out in the rear properly.
Thoughts?

It has nothing to do with letting it cool off, stock 10 bolts suck.

The posi is in the rear end in the pumpkin and no you don't want to mess with it if you don't know what you are doing.

if you are just swapping out the posi, it is not that hard. jack it up, pull the pan, pull the axels. unbolt the carrier caps while keeping the shims in order. unbolt the ring gear from the carrier and swap to your new unit. then put it back together putting the shims back where they go. check the back lash with a dial indicater and shim as needed. most gear companies can send you specific info on the swap or get a book from a parts store. no real challenge back there unless you have to remove the pinion (gear swaps).

Don't tell them you took it to the track then that warranty would be voided and they would tell you sorry.

With it being christmas and all if they have to order stuff and it's not available locally don't look to have it back until the middle to the end of next week. Our parts situation and ups through our shop right now is absolute crap. We have cars tore down everywhere and no parts or incorrect parts are killing us.
