smoking kills millions a year
So Texas is responsible for 29% of the nations street race related deaths. Way to go! I bet there were more street racing fatalities in Detroit than in the entire state of Texas.

90 a year from street racing? That's weak. I bet more fatalities happen from people talking on their phone or masturbating while driving. Might as well make that illegal too.

Yep, back when I was in highschool in the early-mid 80's, everyone went to a deserted stretch of road out behind the Bell Helicopter plant in Hurst. 30-40 cars easy and the cops pretty much left us alone. One would even trailer his '55 Chevy out to race. Good times.

i dont think its so much an issue of any 'new' laws, as it is increased enforcement of existing ones. think of the 'public intoxication' debacle of last year.

Street racing is illegal, PERIOD. Most of us have done it at one point in our lives, and really enjoyed it. I look back and say to myself, "that was flippin retarded going down the road at 150 with traffic." Some grow out of it, some dont. Lets please not try to change each others opinions on the matter, that could get ugly. If you like to street race, yippie... if you dont, zippiy-do-da. All they are saying is that they are going to be enforcing that PRE-EXISTING LAW a bit more. This is not new news to anyone.

Talk about deaths. In 2004, 195 people were killed in deer-vehicle crashes caused by deer....Way more dangerious than street racing There is a time and place for everything...And way more deaths caused by other criminal acts that should be focused on and enforced.......

Street racing has really lost it's luster anyway, if your not running from a dig to the 1/8th or 1/4 mile then your just plain dumb. Roll racing is for people whose cars don't have the nuts to get it done the correct way.
