I hope this is the case, but IMO, and as evidenced by most of the lottery winners, most poor people that receive large amounts of money are in just as poor financial shape soon after receiving a huge chunk of money.
The phrase "ghetto rich" has a good definition: People with cars that have wheels and stereos worth more than the car, living in trailers and ghetto neighborhoods. The focus is more on the appearance of prosperity itself than longterm financial independence. It is simply a part of the structure of social classes in society. The misconception (to the lower class) is that raising social status isn't about consumables. Its about education and lifestyle until you get in the elite class. At that point, it is about the odds of being born into a wealthy family or becoming a movie star or pro athelete. Now, we see why the misconception is formed.
Hopefully, VY has his head screwed on straight and is thinking longterm while his stock is hot right now. We'll see...
