I too cant wait to see the Stros, I hope I can nail down some opening day tix. Hey what do you think they will do to their starting 5 man rotation? They have three solid starters, and once Bcke comes back it will be 4, I htink they need to sign a 4th pitcher to a 2 year deal min. Clemens is going back to NY i just know it.

Oswalt
Williams
Jennings
Rodriguez
Astacio/Nieve/Sampson?

Hard to project that one right now. Losing Pettitte hurts, since he ate up lots of innings.

I hope Doggy finds his stroke again. When he was on, he was ON. I think he and Jimy Williams just got on the outs with each other, and now that Jimy isn't here, maybe he can do something. I'm cautiously optimistic, though, since he was out of baseball last year for a reason.

Win or lose, it's still fun to talk about.

Atleast the Rangers partially filled in that dead hole in left field, no more .222 hitting from Wilkerson. Sure am glad John Hart traded Soriano and his 46 homers, 41 stolen bases and 95 RBIs for him. Now we've got Catalanotto back!

Bitter much? Don't forget that they let Soriano go as well.

This will be another year of medioricty, least we'll get to watch the Mav's until June, then it's only two months to football!

They let Matthews Jr. go too... that was 100% retarded.

Oh, don't forget the Chris Young for Adam Eaton deal. Good thing we threw in Adrian Gonzales to make sure they took the bait!!! 24 HRs, .304 average, 82 RBIs. At least we've still got Otsuka as a setup man.

So basically we traded a proven young starter, a stud near rookie first baseman and a mediocre prospect outfielder for a decent setup man in the bullpen and a partial season out of an ineffective starter. Great trade John Hart!!! You got the Padres back into the playoffs.

I disagree, he's getting paid $10,000,000 a year over 5 years. Over a million dollars more a season than Juan Pierre is getting paid. There are lots of really good pitchers not making that kind of money.

I think he might have been worth it, he had an improving bat and could play center field really well. Besides, what else do the Rangers have? Tex's contract is going to be up soon, and if the Rangers cant put together a championship team... he may leave.

Rangers have always been known to do completely STUPID stuff.

Alex Rodriguez ($250 million 10 years, traded to NYY, and STILL paying $8 million of that now!)

Chan Ho Park ($36 million 4 years...traded for Phil Nevin making almost as much)

Trading Chris Young
Letting Michael Young leave unsigned
Letting Pudge sign with Florida
Trading Juan Gonzalez to Detroit
Not signing Gary Mathew jr. (he might not be good now, but he'll beat the Rangers later on anther teem...guarantee it).
Not signing Sammy Sosa back in the late 80's!
Not going after the two pitchers they could have gotten this free agency period before they signed with their respective teams.

That's just a start! I'm sure there are more screwups between John Hart and the previous guy, for the life of me can't remmeber what his name was.

Oh well, maybe I should just follow another team...like..say...the NYM's or have the KC?

He's not worth more than Orlando Hernandez, Mark Mulder, Greg Maddux, Jeff Suppan, Woody Williams, Kerry Wood or Randy Wolf though. All proven quality starters with the exception of Wood, who is only making $1.5 million this season. Yet Matthews is making the same money or more than nearly all of them (Suppan makes $500k more a year).

I heard Sammy Sosa came and worked out for the Rangers yesterday... sounds like they're on their way to another Ranger-isque deal with a burnt out steriod abuser. LOL.

Biggio is an Iron Man, he's not going anywhere excpet to his couch with his family after he get s 3000 hits, and finishes his career out as an Astro. THey guy is one tough ****** ******, and it would have to be a significant tear in a major ligament to slow him down.
