actually, for what it is worth, that would be a very good cam to use, be sure to break it in right, upgrade the intake and carb and you'll gain allot of torque, hp too but it would kik *** out of the hole too, best thing would be to just try it and find out, i have the XE274 and it makes gobbs of power with my combo.

K.i.t.t YOu leave for the navy, save your money! You are not going to need a car for at least 6months, maybe even longer!! Get your 85 cleaned up and sell it, then get you a ls1...Just my opinion... Then you wouldn't have to worry about your brothers car. On the topic though i think he is going to gun ya down! The older gm's were a little weak compared to the 5.0.

Man, when I was a heads/cam/nitrous 306 I never had to worry most cars out there even off the spray. Honestly, the only cars that I would worry about were the 03 cobras or a camming ls1. Those fox bodies are pretty strong cars no matter what the mods are. Save your money for something else man. If you absolutely love the car save for an ls1/ls2 swap, or if you can afford it buy something with a little better platform to mod.

I have been told to drop a ls1 in it quite a few times, but there again lies my problem wth FUEL INJECTON. Dont get me wrong, in F-bodys 98-02 it kicks *** but to convert mine to F.I. i would have to do quite a few things... first find a ls1, (not to hard) 2. i would need to find a wiring harness, 3. Buy a computer 4. I dont even know if it would mount up to my 700R4. I would just rather build the 355 put a th350 behind it with a 3000 stall and 4.11 gears. Its just so much easier to me

And slower. The 700r4 should work. You will probably need a different converter though.

The 355 i have planned hits 434 hp n/a and with a 175-shot it puts out 607 hp at the crank so i'm hoping between 510-550 hp at the wheels just for $5,500. I know that it would wipe his *** all over the track, but 600 hp vs what 300 hp at the most wouldnt be fair.

without the proper mods the 5.0 is going to win. exp if you have an auto.

maybe a converter and gears would help out but the 5.0 were pretty strong back in the day compared to the older T/A's. Nitrous and colder plugs would help, but my vote is to save your money and get something else.

Your heads will probably not take the lift on the cam you listed above, you will need at least a 3000 stall, and a gear is a must to get the most out of it, the heads you have probably are too small on the runner size and also might not support the flow numbers to get the most from that cam.

KITT, I ran the edelbrock 650 with the performer rpm intake and the performer rpm cam. Edelbrock dyno matched that cam and intake and recommend that carb for the setup. That will save you the $ of buying a new carb since you are on a budget. I always recommend that setup. I could care less about what anyone else says, I put that setup together on my 350 iroc and it worked great. The cam has a really nice sounding lope. Running that 650 carb on your stock 350 is really a bit much also. That carb is good for 350hp. You could put a 600 on and probably get a better tune and power out of it on your stock motor. If you cam the motor, save yourself the money and keep that carb. You don't need a 3000 stall converter. Don't know what that guy was thinking. That performer rpm cam makes power starting at 1500 rpm so you don't need to stall to much higher rpms to get a good launch or better streetability cause that cam is very streetable. You will also need to go with a bit better valve springs. Edelbrock recommended the torquer series springs for my setup. It's one of the cheapest setups you can get and still get good performance with great streetability. As for the stock heads, I bought a standard abrasives porting kit for under $30. It will help the flow issue a bit cause heads are damn expensive. P.S. I built that iroc on a budget 3 years ago when I was still in high school. 1 grand will cover it and you'll be happy. I also ran nitrous on the car before I put high compression pistons in it. The bottle was always empty and I was definetely more proud in the end with a lopey powerfull motor and the harwood cowl hood that I sold my nos kit for. Good luck!!!

The 3000 stall would get him into the beginning of the real power band of that cam, i wouldn't even think of doing anything less than a 2500 stall, if he has a 2.73 gear he will suffer.
