New years eve as the countdown was going on. We were together for 5 years before we got married. Also waited 5 years before our first..second and third child(kind of a shock on that one.)

I went to ask her parent's permission. While talking with them, she walked in from work and her mom gave her a hug and told her "Congratulations on your engagement" . Oops! She didn't know what was going on and her mom felt terrible. Overall, it was funny. Btw, her family is from Colombia, so her mom didn't understand exactly what was going on. No big deal :-).
So, when I finally got the ring and presented it to her we were in my F150 and I was wearing my Tom Cruise Rayban sunglasses . She said yes, so I took her to the Olive Garden. LOL.

Went to a UT football game (we're both UT grads), after the game we went up to the top of The Tower. I had purchased all of the tickets for that tour, so it was just the two of us. She had no idea what was going on because there were a lot of pissed of people that didn't understand how the tour was sold out but there were only two people in line. On top of that, I had her ring in my pocket throughout the whole game.
Once we were alone on the tower, I got down on one knee and proposed. I was nervous as hell and shaking. She said yes of course and cried then we had some burgers and beer at Fuddruckers.

Well I haven't done mine yet. Bought the ring today though. No more car ideas for me for a while. Well since I haven't done it yet I'll tell you how I'm planning on it going when I do it next month. Well I'm in the military and come home bout every four of five months so we only have one car there. So I'm planning on having her at home and telling her I have to go pick some stuff up. Which I will.... I want to fill her car with flowers, not just roses but just all different kinds of flowers then on the drivers seat I want to set up like a little circle of them around the box. So when I come back in I also have to have like two bags full of stuff just for show, maybe hide some wine in there or something. Then I will ask her if she will go get my phone out of the car cause I forgot it there. So hopefully she says yes and goes to get it. So as she gets closer and closer to the car she notices, then opens the door and sees them all and then the circle and box so she freaks out grabs the box and opens it to sheer......disappointment..... cause I'll be back inside the house on my knee with the ring waiting...... What you all think?

i went on vacation with my (at the time) g/f to CO. I had a 2004 yellow gto at the time. I drove the goat to red rock park, up to the top at a look out spot and pulled over and we got and to look around. That is when i poped the Q, got a yes along with the hugging kissing stuff...jumped back in the gto(it was cold and snowing) and went out to eat. I sold the gto and bought another som ws6. Now she wants the gto back just for the fact we drove it up there and got ingauged.

When I proposed, I went to a shop that built furniture from marble. I had the owner cut a heart shape out of a piece of marble, then acid treat it so it looked 500 years old. It looked very weathered. THen I had another company carve "Upon this rock Jeremy and Christin were engaged to be wed".
On the day that I proposed, I told her we were going on a scaveger hunt (her bday was coming up so it ws not too abnormal). We went to the park here and into the woods, down some trails, and finally when we were getting close to the bench where the rock was laid (with some help from a friend) you could hear our song playing in the background. I told her to sit on the bench and close her eyes. When she opened them, I was kneeling in front of her, with ing box in front of me. I popped the question, then after she was done hugging and such I showed her the rock I was kneeling on. The heart rock was about 2' x 2' so it was REALLY heavy carring all the way back to the car. Didn't think about that. The rock would stay around forever.......had she not left me this past summer!!!
Its all good though, I came out for the better. Now I'm with an INCREDIBLE girl who appreciates me everyday. Still, I feel like I wasted the good surprise on the first one!

We were walking through a park by a river. I was able to slip the ring onto her finger without her knowing(we were holding hands) and then I showed brought her hand up and showed her the ring.
We've been married just under three years now.

I was doing my Combat Medic training at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio. I had met my girl while we were both working at the Hard Rock Cafe in Houston, like a year and a half before.
One weekend she was coming to see me, so I had called the HRC in San Antonio to see if they could help me out and play our song at some point, so I could ask her. Nothing special, I just wanted them to play 1 song. The manager was like, sure we can do that for you. Anyway, the plan was to do it after we had gotten our desserts. Well, the desserts come and I'm just waiting for the song to start playing (U2's 'All I Want is You", for those of you wondering). I'm getting real nervous, not only b/c of the engagement, but I was so scared I was going to forget what I was going to say. I had been practicing all day. At this point, my girl starts complaining to me that her shake isn't thick enough (since we had both worked there, we knew how thick they should be) and asking me if I think she should send it back. Honestly, at this point, I could care less but I play it off and say, "Do whatever you like, honey." Well, she could tell something was up, but had no idea what I was about to do. At that time, she was thinking I thought she was being silly, worrying about how thick her shake was.
Anyway, the song starts playing and I get ready to get down on one knee, when someone starts speaking over the PA system, "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. We have a very special couple in the restuarant tonight and this young man would like to ask someone a question."
At that point I see the manager walking towards me with a microphone. He hands it to me and I'm like, (in my head) " Holy ****!!! I just wanted them to play a song, not all this!!! " It was a Friday night, and the place was packed with everyone looking at me. Well, I take a deep breath, pull out the ring, get down on my knee, and go for it. Thankfully, I didn't forget a word and of course, she said yes.
We're celebrating our 10 year anniversary in June.
