The Porter Cable is a dual action polisher. More or less a buffer.

The compounding stage uses a more abrassive foam pad on the buffer along with the more abrassive compound. In short, it removes a thin layer of clear along with the swirls. The polishing stage removes all the haze out and brings the paint back to life.

At the moment I go to school 150 miles away from home so the car just sits in the garage under a cover so thankfully I don't have to worry about that problem.

hey, where did you get your pads from for the polisher? I need to do this to my car but I don't wanna scratch the paint by using crappy pads. thanks

I bought everything from here http://www.properautocare.com/
If you need the polish also, they sell a perfect kit with everything needed.

Don't use the cheap pads the polisher comes with, they are ****.

zaino isn't that big of a difference compared to the porter cable. That's what you really need to look into!
