Default PLEASE HELP! Does anyone know anything about fighting credit companies?

About 3 years ago HSBC sent me this card that came bundled in with a Best Buy card. Ever since Ive had problems. I have paperwork stating that the account was paid off, it was closed, and all my negative credit history was taken off my report because of a billing error on their part. I recently pulled my credit report to find the account is STILL open and it has a balance of $148.00, and is still delinquent. They are just adding charges out of the blue, and Ive closed the account and paid it off in full(or tried) twice!! What can I do??

Contact one of the credit bureaus and open a dispute. You can then send them all the documentation you have and they can remove it. It will be about a 30-60 day process.

If I am right you have to dispute it with all three companies. Doing it with one only clears it up on that one. As long as the company(bestbuy) says you are correct then it will disapear off your credit report.

First thing, Experian is really bad about not really investigating when they said they did. If it comes back verified, you need to send another letter to them asking them how they verified it, ask for specifics, who they talked to, ect.

FCRA says that only true history will be placed on a persons credits report. If they verify it, get your reciepts, recorded calls ect, and file a lawsuit, About the only way to get them to listen sometimes.

I am an expect in the credit/collection field, if you need any more help, PM me

You need to dispute with all 3 credit bureaus to have the negative information removed, but if the account is still open, you must deal directly with MBNA. When you do, document everything single thing you do. Don't take their word for it. Make them send you everything in writing, and never throw that info away.

Good luck!
