The X50 and V1 were designed by the same person and are the exact same detector minus the arrows. The guy who designed the X50 started valentine and designed the V1. My .02 cents say fu*k the extra money so I can know where the radar is comming from. My friend has a V1 and I have the X50 and they perform the same.
It's up to you, people will argue all day about V1 versus x50. I got a V1 and i love it. Just know that you get what you pay for so a 100 dollar cobra isn't going to even come close. My v1 saves me almost daily.

I have the Passport 8500 X50 and love it. I once did a search when I was in the market and found that most people preffered the Passport. I got mine from a buddy, it was beaten up and started to mess up and threw some calibration codes. So I sent it in for repair and it cost me $50 for the fix, and a new casing on the outside.(no warranty) Looks brand new. They also sent me a new cord and mounting hardware for free without me having to even ask them! I am very pleased with their customer service and product.

Had a Bel Pro rx65(stolen), loved it, great detection and i got it for $229 shipped on ebay. Its the same radar as the escort 8500 x50 (escort=beltronics). Everyone is all on the x50's nuts but why pay more for the same radar that doesnt look as cool????
Either go with the bel (pro rx65 or sti), escort, v1, or the new escort that is coming out. Those are the top detectors.
And please for the love of God everyone take your radar detectors off your windshield when you are parked!!!!!! I payed the price and i only had my suction cups on there.

yup, the V1 comes with a slide on clip. I just slid the clip over the headliner and ran the wire over to the driver a-pillar, and ran it down the pillar and hardwired it under the cover that's below the steering wheel by your knees.
