Hey man, as true, and funny, as that info may be, do you need to use that term to refer to Mexicans, whether legal or illegal?

I ask b/c I am a Mexican American (legal), and I have been called that too many times for no other reason than having brown skin, to just sit back like it's no big deal. In case you didn't know, using that term is not much different than using the N-word. Now, would you use the N-word here too, or do you only have a problem w/people w/a latin background?

Look, I don't want to make a big deal about this. I just felt that it needed to be said that that word is not something to laugh at. I, along w/many other Mexican Americans, take great offense to the use of that word and would hope that you and anyone else reading this, refrain from using it.

Of course, I don't know you or your background, so for all I know, you could be Mexican too. So, if perchance you are, please have a little more respect for yourself and your people, and stop using that word.

Finally, FWIW, your post would have been just as funny and less offensive if you'd have used the word Mexicans. Think about it.

i think the term Mexicans would have been more offensive because that would have stereotyped all Mexicans to that particular group, We are just referring to the ones with deep deep Mexican roots, and yes me and ex-ss-ve are Mexican, but man its just a word, i don't care who calls me a wetter or wetback, personally! Even if they are trying to be hurtful!

For every race there is a hurtful word to describe them!

Who cares if someone refers to a particular ethnic group with offensive slang.
