Default New to TX and need some help

Just wanted to introduce my self. Moved to Beaumont area from California for job with Praxair at Motiva refinery. Would be nice to meet some fellow gear heads. I like TX so far, good food and nice people.

Need a rebuild for my T56. Hear T56 rebuilds in Houston is good, but can't drop and install the tranny myself (1- I live in apartment so no place to do that much work and 2- have no experience). Can someone recommend a reliable shop in southeast texas to get my tranny done.

Thanks

I can highly recommend SixSpeedsInc. (formerly T56Rebuilds). Great people over there. You could take the car to G-force and have them do the labor, also some great people over there too. Call Amber and let her know whats up, tell her Jason sent ya. Im sure she can get you in touch with someone that can do the drop.

Mosquitos what mosquitos.....There are small vampire bats around but I have not seen any mosquitos

Also a Cali transplant. Great place here. Lots to do and unlike Cali where you were spending all your money just to live here you get to LIVE!

Sorry no help on the tranny havent been here long enough. From the central coast..Santa Maria just above Santa Barbara.

Oh, yeah. Love mudbugs and all seafood. I think i've gained a good 15lbs since moving out here. I'm from Huntington Beach. The best thing so far about TX is no state income tax, but the roads atleast in SE TX are crap. I'm re-thinking those QA1 ends on all my suspension components! Feel like i'm driving a covered wagon when i run over all these pot holes.

First off.....welcome to Texas.
As far as the transmission - call Amber (like was said in earlier thread).

Did you just hire on with Praxair, or transfer with the company? My wife works for them in the Texas City Hydrogen unit - just wnated to know so I could tell her. You'll probably be coming down to Texas City every once in awhile (especially in start ups - which should be happening any day now). if so, ask for Linda - she'll help you out.

You will probably get a better deal in houston. six speedinc. or check with MTI and see who they use.

Actually I just started with Praxair and you're right about texas city, I will probably be going down there for start up. We need to shut down to do some work but the hydrogen pipeline group won't let us with until BP starts up. I think i'll go with six speed inc. All the recomendations are hard to ignore.

Also, I want to put a perminent wbo2 in. I've got an LC-1, but never really got it working right. I hate doing wiring. I have HP tunners but really haven't exploited it yet.
