Default Calculus 2 Example

Hey guys,

trying to find a "real world" example for a Power Series. Pretty much how it is applied in a daily life.

thanks in advance

Haha... you'll be hard pressed for that one... Engineers??? As far as I know, the only thing they were good for were solving definite integrals, which in turn pissed me off, so I'd say that Power Series **** people off daily...

Power under the curve = calc...

It applies just not much

That would be one wacky *** curve definition! Some kind of hybrid SIN definition... That'd be really something if someone had a dyno graph that could be simplified by a geometric series or Taylor series!!!

HP and beyond!!!!!!!!!!!

or bad tuning!!!!!!!!

Power series sucks and so does cal 2. People dont generally use cal 1 or 2 or 3 in everyday life, but engineers and physicists do. Power series, taylor series and mainly taylor polynomials, are used in such fields as relativity, optics, blackbody radiation, electric dipoles, velocity of water waves, and building highways across a desert. So unless you surf, you wont apply it in everyday life.

For the record, im not an engineer, im just studying to be one.

Used a power series in a VB program to find a multi variable integral or derivative or something......(if i remember correctly)

it was in my programming class in college...

so whatever problem calls for differentiation or integration could be a real life app.

but that's seriously reaching.........simple answer is NO you will never ever use this irl.

hahaha

god, i'm glad to be done with math...

and like mentioned I doubt you would see anything related to a power series in real world conditions

well calculus 1 is pretty much single variable calc

2 = multi variable calc

3 = further multi variable and or differential equations which is just more series stuff

that is just real general though :o
