How Not to Do a Header Install (with pics)

I decided to install the FLP long tubes I bought used a couple weeks ago today. I had ordered materials to fab up a ypipe. Last night I spent a couple hours and had all of the stock exhaust/air stuff off. Things were going well. Once I started bolting up the passenger side header I noticed one of the bolts was going in a little crossthreaded. I tried a different bolt, but got the same thing. So the easy thing to do is to clean up the thread with a tap. No biggie. Well here is what happens when you buy tools made in China.

I had to make a decision on how to fix it. I decided it's not such a bad thing after all.

Ewww. I'd helicoil it while it's out, not just clean the threads. You could also just get some new heads, which looks like what you're doing.

It's a dual nozzle nx kit.

Heh, I broke off a header bolt in Galen's brand new Darts. I thought he was going to stab me. Got it out though, it helped that the engine was not in a car.
