If I recall correctly, when you opt for deferred adjudication, you pay the full amount of the ticket and you're placed on probation for six months. If no tickets, it's wiped from your record. With the way things have been going for me lately, I don't know if I can keep from getting a ticket within that time frame.

I just got off for a speeding ticket not to long ago. Here in Hunt County, all I had to pay was the court costs and an administrative fee. Ran me less than $125.

If you get a lawyer, you are going to have to pay their $75 fee plus any court fees/fines. They don't make everything disappear, just not as bad.

Ah, no. Pay the $300 ticket, ticket goes on record. Insurance goes up. There is no such thing as it being cheaper to pay the ticket.

Defensive Driving=court costs ($106 in Dallas County) + the course (~$40) + a copy of your driving record ($10 to the state). So $160 there.

Deferred= Court Costs plus admin fee (less than $125 in Hunt County). All you gotta do is be good for 6 months and everything goes away.

Getting a lawyer would just add $75+ to those, as that is more than likely what a lawyer would do for you anyway. It will still be a moving violation, so DD or deferred is the only way out.
