I bought my '01 SS very gently used from a 50 year old man. I bought my '99 stripper Z28 from a 58 year old man. I bought my '02 Z28 through a broker, but the original owner was an L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy very close in age to me (mid 30's).
I would be paranoid/scared to buy a muscle car from a "young guy". Some people are mature and responsible from a very young age, but when you apply the law of averages it's much more likely a really young owner will have beat the **** out of his ride and not have the brains/foresight to pull all the maintenance.
Recently we picked up our '98 Z28 ragtop from a fellow board member who is probably in his late 20's. That was kinda young for me, but he was a real good guy and a thorough inspection of the car revealed that he took very good care of it. It's one of the cleanest/best maintained '98's I've seen in a very long time.
Tell the "old folks" to buy plenty of 5th gen Camaros, because here's one guy that will take them off their hands later.

its not the old part that bothers me. its the people who just buy them and don't realize what they have. I have tried to race other f-bodies or y-bodies, and even Ferrari's over here where i live and they just look at me like I am retarded when I try and race them. (FYI, I am racing in a friendly way, not trying to be a jerk on the streets or anything, just trying to get a race. )
Normally when I see an older woman driving or a blond 17 year old girl painting her nails while driving a camaro SS, I don't even try, because I know that she does not even have the slightest clue on how to race her car. (not saying all woman are that way, but some are. even guys can be this way) but to me, if your going to own a SS and not race it, you minaswell sell it and get a mini van or something. and let some one who is going to put the car to good use own it.
just my .02

+1 on older people buying the 09 camaros, because all the young people like me cant afford it lol. i dont have a problem with who drives what car as long as it is maintained and kept properly. and i hate to say it but not alllll young people beat the **** outa thier cars, i dont and im young. I can believe that a majority of the ls1's and f-bodies have been hammered on a little bit, but its all in the drivers no matter what age. I know an 80 year old man that sprays his Lightning and his big block fox body. and he beats the **** outa his cars more then me, but he maintains them too.
so basically its all in the driver/owner

There was a older gentleman (old) at San Antonio Raceway yesterday running in a gold 4th gen Z28 pulling of high 11's N/A. My buddy pointed him out to me and I smiled a bit to see someone his age still doing it, gives me some freakin hope!

The irony of whippersnapper's comment is that he's admiring a car designed mostly by 40-50 year olds and a car-type that is over 40 years old.

Yep I ran that past my older brother who kinda remembers it and he believed it to be a 360 5.9, He said it was a 78 model, A few years before my presence. Come to think of it my Granny had a blue 79 that got totaled in '88 I do remember that.

i actually bought my firehawk off of a guy in his 60's. he had owned trans am's his whole life, and only drove it on weekends. he completley babied the car and the only reason he was selling was because he wanted a C6. i got myself a mint condition 19k mile firehawk that hadnt got once ounce of abuse.
since i coudlnt buy a brand new one, this 'old guy' enabled me to get as close to that dream as possible.
just because someone doesnt beat the **** out of their car, doesnt mean they arent enjoying it.

LoL...now that would lead to some serious brain freeze. And the thread starter has a history of random stupid threads that don't turn out the way he planned. I have no problem with older people having badass cars. That's where you fine the great deals on a well takin care of car.
